Gambling Lottery Help Save Churches in UK
Churches have always been one of the main opponents to gambling. They use the gambling issue as another way to tell people what they should believe is right or wrong.

Now, the same group that has taken strong stances against gambling, will be saved thanks to money generated from gambling. Nine churches in the UK will get much needed help thanks to the National Lottery.

The National Lottery and Historic Scotland has set aside money to help nine churches that are old and in need of repairs.

Falkirk Old and St. Modan's Parish Church will be a beneficiary of the lottery money. "We are delighted. This money is essential to begin work to the roof this summer, as we are not sure if it could stand another winter," said Revered Robert Allen, the churches minister.

The acceptance of the money by these churches is further evidence that money and power can change anyone's stance on an issue. Politicians use the gambling issue to get political power. they jump on the side of the issue they feel will get them the most votes.

Churches, have long been against gambling, claiming it is an evil. If the alternative is not getting the money to fund needed improvements, then gambling no longer is vilified.

Nine churches have openly accepted that this money will come from the lottery. None of the churches have given any indication they will turn the money down because of its origination.
