Canadian Initiates Restrictive Legislation
The Canadian online casinos gambling industry is getting as heated into debates as the U.S. gambling industry at this point. The Canadian government has issued remarks that the nation’s internet gambling industry is under investigation right now, and that there are no known plans for regulation at this point. The online casinos gambling industry though suspects that some in the government are pushing for a ban on internet gambling financial transactions similar to U.S. legislation. Many argue that the Canadian government is more likely to rule in favor of regulation more than a complete ban on the activity, but the horseracing is pushing for a ban of all online gambling transactions.

The Woodbine Entertainment Group has officially entered this national debate and has even gone so far as to note that the racetrack industry is considering sponsoring a bill that would eliminate the online casinos gambling industry in Canada and Ottawa – well that or allow the horseracing industry access to the internet gambling industry.

Though the online casinos issue is not a top priority, Woodbine is adamant that the offshore internet gambling from the Kahnawake tribe is operation illegally and severely cutting into the company’s profits. MP Roy Cullen plans to pursue this issue in the long-term and recently commented, "Woodbine Racetrack is in my riding, I work with them a lot and they create economic activity and jobs in Etobicoke North. And when they tell me their market share is being eroded because there are players in the game that are operating illegally but no one is doing anything about it, I stand up and listen."

The situation is really tricky though because the Canadian online casinos gambling industry is currently run though the Kahnawake tribe – an entity that claims that the Canadian government does not have the right to regulate. Whether that is in fact the case remains to be seen, but Woodbine is pushing this issue through into the public debate.
