Online Gambling Casino Company Wants Outlet in Iceland

The online gambling company, Betsson wants to open a gambling store in Iceland. Gambling is illegal in Iceland, but several organizations like the Red Cross, SÁÁ and the Icelandic rescue squads have government permission to run slot machines.

However, Icelandic laws state that online companies are allowed to compete with the monopolies of the government permitted organizations. Due to those laws, Betsson is considering to open up a gambling store in Iceland.

“Betsson plans to open gambling stores in every market where there is need for competition to increase the benefits of the customers, and Iceland is no exception” Pontus Lindwell, chairman of Betsson said.

Advertisements for Betsson online gambling have appeared in Icelandic newspapers and on television. Since advertising for gambling is illegal as well the company might have a law suit on their hands.
