Internet Gaming is Increasing Heavily in the Chinese Market

Regulatory restrictions in the Chinese gaming market mean that online casino gambling companies are unable to really flourish in the Asian gambling industry right now. Gambling though is just one part of the equation and research statistics indicate that China’s gaming industry is surging right now, and that online casinos are frequently partnering with Chinese-based gambling companies as a way to ensure they have a foundational presence in the current internet gaming industry.

Soft gaming may not be nearly as lucrative as gambling at the online casinos, but the skill and casual gaming industry is booming in Asia right now and gaming portals are seeing a huge increase in the number of gamers looking for innovative gaming alternatives. A popular international gaming portal, the Spill Group has recently announced a new overseas Asian gaming portal that has proven an instant success already. For gaming portals, the main source of lucrative revenue comes from advertising revenue. There are no online casino gambling profits to pad the success of the company, so instead, Dutch Spill is operating an Asian gaming portal based off of the fact that the portal is a prime location for Chinese advertisers looking to reach the specific market of casual and skill gamers.

And although the Spill Group’s Asian gaming portal has already proven a success, the CEO of the Dutch online casino gambling and gaming portal company, Marc van der Chijs, commented on some of the drawbacks to the current gaming industry in China. He notes, "It won’t take long for online ads to surpass TV ads in China. The current problem is that most people in China’s advertising industry are not familiar with Internet ads, but are familiar with TV ads. The same thing happened in the United States and the United Kingdom five or six years ago.” Though the gaming market is young, and the potential for online casino gambling is still a bit of a ways off, there is immense potential for profits in the region, and the Spill Group is fortunate to be one of the first large-scale gaming portals in this market.
