| Obama's Gambling Instincts Lead Him |
|
Senator Barack Obama has been receiving criticism for reversing his stance regarding public financing for the general election. However, Obama is a gambling man, and his gambling instincts told him that giving John McCain a head start of five months was not in the cards. While Republicans rip Obama for going back on his word, they fail to understand that when he committed to public financing, he thought that everyone in the race would agree. Instead, John McCain spent millions of dollars in a privately financed campaign since February. McCain has been running his entire campaign through privately funded money. Now, when push comes to shove, and he realizes that Obama is one of the best fundraisers on the planet, he decided he wants both to use public financing. That is not the way it works here in America. When McCain chose to take advantage of the ongoing Democratic primary by continually running ads from privately funded money, he lost his right to complain about Obama’s decision. It is true that Obama has gone back on his original thoughts on the issue. The original stance, however, was when he thought that all candidates would be playing by the same rules. Now, they are playing by the same rules, and that is what ticks Republicans. For years Republican candidates have been using big corporations money to help themselves get elected. Now that a Democrat has come along that not only can compete with their money raising, but exceed it by great lengths, they are crying foul. It is unfortunate that McCain and his supporters have chosen to attack Obama for this change in strategy. Perhaps a change in strategy is necessary in politics sometimes. A change in strategy certainly would have changed the public opinion on our current president. Source:http://www.casinogamblingweb.com/ |
