Kansas Courts Approve Casino Gambling
Kansas is ready for casino gambling. Count them as one of the states who believes that revenue from the casinos can help more than any of the negatives can help.

The Governor of the state believes so much in the idea that the court system will uphold the decision of the legislature, that she has already put the projected revenue in her budget for 2009.

Governor Kathleen Sibelius has allotted $81 million in gambling revenue for the 2009 fiscal year. The new year's budget starts on July 1st.

The projections originate from privilege fees that will be paid by potential casino investors. The other revenue is expected to be drawn from slot machines at racetracks in the state.

The Supreme Court still needs to rule on the legality of the new state gambling laws. While it is likely the court will rule in favor of the new laws, it is still a bit of a risk to include the revenue money into the budget.

The Governor is planning on using the revenue money for construction projects and debt reduction.
