Star Cast for heads up Poker Championship

In the United States, the NBC network has released the names of 63 players who have confirmed they will be appearing to compete in the 2008 edition of the National Heads Up Poker Championships. In a list that reads like a who's who of international poker, all the previous heads-up champs are featured, including Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest and Paul Wasicka. Pokerstars will be offering a seat for contestants to vye for in online satellites. Internet players of note are scattered throughout the list, such as Scott "BigRiskky" Clements, Tom "durrr" Dwan, Daniel "Rekrul" Schreiber and Brian "sbrugby" Townsend, Patrik Antonius, and the celebrity players are well represented too, with Gabe Kaplan, Jason Alexander, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Tilly, Shannon Elizabeth and Shannon Elizabeth all appearing at the tables. Jerry Yang, the winner of last year's nailbiting World Series of Poker main event winner Jerry Yang in on the list, as are respected global players like Annie Duke, Bill Edler, Daniel Negreanu, Sam Grizzle, Tom Schneider, Allen Cunningham, Andy Bloch, TJ Cloutier, David Benyamine, Doyle and Todd Brunson and Kenny Tran. Changes for the field are still possible due to emergency or last minute scheduling conflict but that is unlikely. The big event starts on February 28 2008 and will continue for the next three days until there is a winner. The drawing party will start at 9:30 p.m. and the buy-in for each player has been set at $20 000 for the opportunity of taking down the main prize of $500 000 and the bragging rights for being top of an extraordinarily talented list of poker players.
