Germany Following United States Lead and Banning Internet Gambling
Companies that run Internet gambling sites were not happy with the United States attempt last year to ban gambling online. Germany must like what the U.S. is doing because they are set to ban it as well.

Law changes to current gambling procedures in Germany are set to change on January 1st. While most of the gambling that the government profits from were spared from being banned, Internet gambling was not.

The new online betting laws will go into effect in January. All sixteen state legislators voted for the new laws. The former laws were unconstitutional and therefore a new set was drawn up.

The new laws are very similar to the laws in the U.S. where the government is asking financial institutions to not pay money transfers to the illegal gambling sites. Internet servers may also be ordered to block illegal websites.

Advertising will also be affected by the new laws. No advertising of illegal gambling websites will be permitted on television or on the Internet.

Bwin Interactive Entertainment looks most likely to take the biggest hit from the new laws. The company has expressed its displeasure with the new laws.
