US Journal Claims Online Casino Gambling is Out of Control
According to a piece published recently in the conservative Citizen magazine, online gambling is ‘out of control’ in the United States.

Citizen is a periodical for the Focus on The Family Action lobby group published ten times a year. The group is against gambling and urges readers to support the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

“Gambling has attained unprecedented levels of acceptance, glamorisation and popularity in the United States,” the magazine’s mission statement read.

“Once confined to the remote desert region of Nevada, gambling, in one form or another, is now legal in 48 of the 50 states. Utah and Hawaii remain the only exceptions. Citizens throughout the United States are beginning to see the trail of devastation gambling leaves in its wake.”

A piece in the most recent edition stated that the two million dollar fine GoldenPalaceCasino.com has been ordered to pay for violating Canadian law would be a ‘drop in the bucket’ and would not deter operators.

“We need citizens to submit comments to our Government about Internet gambling before Dec. 12,” said Chad Hills, Analyst For Gambling Research And Policy at Focus on The Family Action.

“We have more than 800 casinos and 42 lotteries in the United States. The last place we need more gambling is in our homes.”

Hills stated that online gambling is ‘out of control’ and that Canadian and American policymakers need to establish ‘clear policies or effective oversight for tribal gambling operations’.
