Casino Initiative Approved By the Ohio Attorney General
The language for an initiative petition to allow one casino in Ohio was approved this afternoon (11/30/07) by the Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann who concluded the initiative and its summary to be "a fair and truthful statement of the measure to be proposed."

The group sponsoring this initiative, MyOhioNow.com's, next step is to collect the necessary 402,000 signatures by next August (2008) to place the issue on the November 4, 2008 statewide ballot.

Under the initiative, Ohioans would have the opportunity to vote to legalize a $600,000,000 casino/resort destination site that is located off I-71 (at State Route 73) that is centrally located between the Columbus/Cincinnati/Dayton areas in Clinton County.

Under the MyOhioNow.com plan, a guaranteed $600,000,000 destination casino/resort would employ nearly 5000 Ohioans and generate over $200,000,000 in tax revenues that would be divided among the 88 Ohio counties on a per capita basis.

The full text of the initiative and more information about the project is available at MyOhioNow.com

In response to this approval of the initiative language, MyOhioNow.com partner Rick Lertzman said, "It was important that we met the Ohio Attorney General's criteria to have the language of our initiative to be fair and truthful. It is important to have this issue for one casino in Ohio to be a plan that will resonate as a fair plan for all of Ohio voters. This is the first step in a long road to win the support of Ohio voters on November 4, 2008."

MyOhioNow.com partner, Dr. Bradford A. Pressman, remarked that, "Our intent now is to collect signatures not only in the 44 counties required by law, but in over 70 or more counties. We plan in reaching all Ohio voters to demonstrate that our vision of a $600 million dollar resort/casino will be a Win/Win for all Ohioans and will generate dollars for every county in Ohio through our proposal to 'share the wealth'."
