Free Texas Holdem in MA
Free Texas Hold'em poker tournaments in Massachusetts are becoming extremely popular. Several leagues have been created statewide with some having in excess of 1,000 members with more members joining everyday. These free leagues offer members a chance to develop their game and improve their performance in charity tournaments and casino play. Prizes are often awarded.

Most leagues cost nothing to join and nothing to play and the majority feature Texas Holdem exclusively. Typically, leagues have many venues throughout an area with additional venues coming on board all the time to ensure everybody has a place to play that is close to home.

Registration for these free leagues is typically a simple process and can be accomplished in minutes at the restaurant or tavern where the tournament is being held, or, in many instances, can be done on line at the league's website. Players seem to enjoy not only the game but also the social aspects of the evening. Player ages range from the early twenties to the mid eighties. Both males and females seem to enjoy participating and you'll find people from many walks of life including doctors, carpenters, teachers, insurance agents and almost any other occupation you can think of. Prizes for the evening are often gift certificates, vacations and entries into big time casino tournaments.

Most venues hold two tournaments each evening and generally start around 7:00 p.m. with a second tournament starting around 10:00 p.m. This gives people a chance to get home from work and get to the event. Players start the evening with a set amount in chips and many events have blinds starting at $25.00 and $50.00 in chips with increases every fifteen minutes. Players are generally eliminated when they run out of chips.

The interest in Texas Hold'em has been growing ever since television, specifically ESPN, started airing tournaments where the public can see both the board cards and the players hold cards.

Restaurants and taverns are typically the hosts for tournaments as they take advantage of having this well attended league on what would usually be their slow nights.

The public is always invited to any or all of these venues to try their luck. It's a lot of fun and a great way to meet people who share a common love of Texas Holdem.
